The Parents’ Phrase Book has been out for seven months now, which is crazy, and it has been brought to my attention that I never really talk about it on this site, which is also crazy. Look, it’s right there in the tabs AND the sidebar. Do I have to do everything?
Seriously though, the response from readers of the Honea Express, the loving souls that have shown up to support me at signings, and the ones and ones of people/bots kind enough to interact with me on social media (see, sidebar) has been both humbling and amazing. It is very much appreciated, and I hope you will forgive me a moment whilst I act the braggart.
Fun fact:The Parents’ Phrase Book has been ranked in the top 100 of Amazon’s self-help section for some time, and that might strike you as odd, since it is advertised as a book about communication, parenting, and the wonders of childhood; however, consider that it is also about reconnecting with your own childhood, and that helps people right in the selfies. Apparently.
I have also been told by numerous educators that every teacher, principal, and school counselor should read The Parents’ Phrase Book, which makes me wish they would tell those people and not me, but it’s still nice to hear. It makes a great gift!
Basically, The Parents’ Phrase Book is about walking through this world with empathy, kindness, self-worth, respect, love, intelligence, humanity, grace, innocence, experience, humor, and other searchable keywords. You should totally buy it.
Here is a sample from the chapter on bullies. I hope that you enjoy it (the chapter, not the bullying).
